A D-shaped bag used in many areas of the colonies during the 18th century. The scalloped top allows the bag to ride comfortably on your hip or under your arm. Bag measures approximately 8” W X 9” H with a 1.5” tapered gusset. Features include: a large (approximately 4” W X 6” H) exterior crescent pocket (under front flap); interior 4” W X 2” H rectangular interior pocket; interior short starter holster; and adjustable 1.5” wide leather shoulder strap. The leather used to make this bag is heavy (5 – 6 oz.) oil-tanned cowhide, which produces an extremely durable bag that will stand up to all types of weather and hard use. It is stitched with synthetic sinew that will not rot. The leather is treated with mink oil prior to assembly and a second treatment is applied upon final assembly.
The front flap features a beaver tail design with a red weeping heart inlay and flap edge and top of bag trimmed with a cross stitch. A one-of-a-kind bag!
